International School of Physics and Technology of Matter

On September, Otranto will be the set of a school entirely dedicated to research on quantum coherence, from its frontiers to present and future applications.

Quantum Coherence is currently witnessing a tremendous boost which arises both from the need to understand fundamental phenomena and from the quest of applications in present and future technologies. During this school the consequences of quantum coherence will be analyzed in several different contexts. Collective phenomena will be discussed both in condensed matter systems and in cold atoms.

This school is intended to broaden and deepen the background knowledge of young researchers, mainly PhD students and post-docs, in the general areas of superfluidity, quantum optical interference, quantum information and coherence, laser physics, magnetism and spintronics, superconductivity, Bose-Einstein Condensation, through a series of advanced lectures given by recognized experts in these fields. A perspective of the latest research and future trends in these areas will be also provided.

The school will take place at the Basiliani Resort Hotel in Otranto (Italy) from September 16th to September 22nd, 2012. The deadline for application is August 20th, 2012.
