How to reach us...

  • By Car

    From outside Florence
From the north (Milan) or from the South (Roma) follow the A1. From Pisa follow the A11. In both cases exit at Firenze Nord (toll booth). Follow the freeway in the direction of Florence and exit at Sesto Fiorentino. Go in the direction of Sesto Fiorentino and you will find the Polo Scientifico (scientific campus) on your right hand side.
    From inside the Florence area
    Follow signs to the airport.
Enter the freeway (no toll) in the direction of Pisa and exit at the first exit (Sesto Fiorentino). Go in the direction of Sesto Fiorentino and you will find the Polo-Scientifico (scientific campus) on your right hand side.

  • By Train

The main railway station of Florence is "Firenze Santa Maria Novella"
From the centre of the city you can take the bus n. 23 (see details below) (we suggest this way as the faster one to reach Polo Scientifico). Much closer to the campus is the smaller railway station of Sesto Fiorentino, or the railway station of Zambra.
From the railway station of Sesto Fiorentino take the bus n. 66 (see details below).
From the railway station of Zambra it is possible to walk to Polo Scientifico in about 15 minutes (see below).

  • By BUS

From inside Florence area take bus n. 23.
The line starts at Sorgane, stops at the main train station of Florence (Santa Maria Novella) and ends at Nuovo Pignone. From here you have to cross the road and take bus n. 59 that stops just inside the campus in front of the Physics Department.
You can also take the bus n. 66 from the railway station of Sesto Fiorentino: the end of the line is the same as for n. 59.

  • By Plane

There are three airports which can be used to reach LENS.
"Amerigo Vespucci" airport of Florence, served by national and international (european) carriers. Although the airport is only a few kilometers from the Polo Scientifico, there is no convenient bus connection yet. The best way to reach the campus from Florence airport is by taxi.
"Galileo Galilei" airport in Pisa, served by national and international (european) carriers. There is a convenient train connection between the airport of Pisa and the railway stations of Florence and Sesto-Fiorentino (about 1 hour). The train to Florence is more frequent than the train to Sesto Fiorentino.
"Leonardo da Vinci" International airport of Rome. There is a fast train service between Rome and the main railway station of Florence (Santa Maria Novella) (about 1 hour and 30 minutes). From there continue by bus (see above).

  • By Foot

Is hard to reach the campus on foot.
From the railway station of Sesto Fiorentino it takes about 25-30 minutes, from the railway station of Zambra it takes about 15 minutes.
If you decide to go on foot, from the railway of Zambra turn left down "Viale dei Mille" (which becomes "Viale Pablo Neruda"), turn right at "Via Pierpaolo Pasolini", then left at "Via Lazzerini". This street will take you to Polo Scientifico.
From the railway station of Sesto Fiorentino go right and follow "Via del Trebbio", "Via Girolamo Savonarola", "Piazza della Chiesa", "Via Galileo Galilei", take a right into "Via Cesare Pavese" and walk straight all the way along "Viale dell'Osmannoro" until you get to the Polo Scientifico.
